Couples therapy with your partner is a way to help you learn to work together as a unit and strengthen specific areas within your relationship.Couples come to therapy for various reasons,to work through issues you are concerned about like intemacy and lack of trust. Relationships are fluid things and you may just need a relationship check-up or you might have some larger issues you are trying to work through to save your marriage.

Distrust can stems from unresolved issues that have carried over from past relationships and sometimes from our own insecurities. If there has been a break in the trust you shared, its critical that you communicate or seek therapy if your not sure how to anymore. Listening to each other to gain a clear understanding of what the other person is saying is important, but often times, arguing, confilict and hurt can get in the way. In couples therapy, we help couples work on setting boundaries within the relationship.

As we grow individually we can sometimes grow apart. Couples counseling offers an opportunity to discuss this change in the relationship in a safe non biased environment to talk about how you can recapture the things you love about being together while acknowledging the growth and change. The therapist will discuss both your concerns and help you develop the skills to use at home and away from therapy to get your relationship back on track.

A good relationship takes work, you just have to decide yours is worth the effort

What is your typical process for working with a new clients?

Once you let us know you would like to start services. You will receive a call to set an appointment date and time. After that call you will receive a welcome email with the initial paperwork and my phone number in case you need to reschedule prior to the appointment. Next, show up for your appointment with the initial paperwork and a photo id and insurance card if you are using insurance. The initial session is to gather some history about you and delve a bit deeper into what it is you would like to work on in therapy. At the end of the first session you can schedule the next session or determine if you would like to make it a weekly/bi-weekly or monthly recurring session.
